Consumers urged to take care with credit cards

Consumers have been urged by a life assistance company to ensure they take care with their credit cards to avoid becoming victims of fraud.

Danny Harrison, a security expert at CPP, has said that people should always have an idea of where their credit cards are, after research by the body found that it takes people around ten hours to report their plastic missing.

He said that there may be several reasons for that, but recommended that people take action quickly if they misplace their cards.

"This could be that they are not sure that it is gone, but it could also be down to them thinking 'it may just be here," he explained.

"If you are concerned as to where your cards are you should contact your bank immediately."

Other recent research by CPP found that London is the place where people are most likely to become victims of credit or debit card fraud and theft.

Around 20 per cent of people living in the city have claimed that they have had their cards stolen in the past.ADNFCR-1054-ID-18457969-ADNFCR
